Activity Registration options

Registration is open to everyone! There are two ways to register:

Monterey Recreation - El Estero Park Center: Online (recommended), Walk-in (Monday- Friday, 9am-3:30pm)
Register online for Community Center programs, Field Sports or Camps.

General Information

Age Requirements
For all activities, the participant must be the advertised age or grade for a program before the program ends, unless stated otherwise. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make the instruction consistent and safe.

Registration and Waivers
Registration forms and waivers are captured during the online registration process in Amilia/SmartRec. Online registration is the preferred method of registration for all programs and services. If registration is not completed online a completed registration form with the liability waiver signed by EACH registering adult or the parent or guardian of a minor must be included with each registration. Incomplete forms cannot be processed.  City of Monterey Recreation Programs Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement eff. 12/01/2023

Monterey Residents receive discounted rates. Monterey Residents are those who reside within the city limits of Monterey. Proof of Monterey residency is needed to qualify for discounted fee. Discounts will not be applied retroactively.

Verification of Residency
Monterey Residents receive discounted rates. Monterey residents are those who live within the City limits of Monterey. (Owning business/rental property in the City of Monterey does not qualify as Monterey residency. Del Rey Oaks and certain areas off of Highway 68 are not within the city limits of Monterey).

Proof of Monterey residency is needed to qualify for discounted fee. All first-time registrants and current customers who have a new Monterey address must submit proof of residency along with their registration. If your driver's license does not have a Monterey address, a Monterey utility bill, phone bill, or lease agreement plus photo ID is acceptable.

Military Discount
All active duty military and their families receive the Monterey Resident Fee regardless of where they reside.

Payment Options
Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or personal checks (made payable to City of Monterey) are accepted.

Waiting List
No payment is necessary when joining a waiting list. As space becomes available from cancellations, candidates on our waiting list will receive an email from notifying them there is an available space. You must click on the link in the email in order to register and log in using the email and password associated with your Amilia/SmartRec account.

Americans with Disabilities Act
The City of Monterey is committed to providing recreational opportunities to all members of the community.  In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), if you would like to request reasonable accommodations or other auxiliary aids and/or services, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 831-646-3866, California Relay 711.  To ensure availability and in order to best accommodate individual needs, the City asks that you lets us know of any accommodations needed at the time of registration or at least 72 hours prior to the meeting/event/class/activity you wish to attend. Due to difficulties in securing Sign Language Interpreters, five or more business days’ notice is strongly recommended.

Registration Options
Amilia/SmartRec - Online Registration
Credit card required
The Amilia/SmartRec store is available 24/7 for online registration. You can check availability, create your own account, register and print your own receipt. Call 646-3866 or email if you have any questions.

Staff are available to assist you with registering through the Amilia/SmartRec store in-person at the Monterey Recreation - El Estero Park Center (Monday-Friday, 9am-3:30pm) or the Monterey Sports Center. Staff will assist you in setting up your account and guide you through the registration process.
Transfers & Refunds
Withdrawals, Transfers and Cancellations
Monterey Recreation strives to provide you with high quality recreational and educational opportunities. We are confident that your participation will be personally valuable and enriching.

No refunds will be given after the class begins. Refunds given if notified three (3) business days before the class begins. A 25% service charge will be assessed to each activity cancellation. Refunds will be issued by check if the original method of payment was by cash or check. Refund checks will be issued to the person listed as the primary guardian of the household account. If the original payment was made by credit card, a refund will be processed to the credit card account used for the original payment.

Monterey Sports Center programs, Field Sports programs, play! Monterey Travel Program, drop-in classes, one-day workshops and facility rentals are subject to separate withdrawal guidelines.

Materials fees are non-refundable.

Transfers must be requested three (3) business days prior to the first class and will be processed if space is available. A $2 transfer fee must be paid prior to transfer. Transfer requests cannot be processed over the telephone.

If a participant’s age, grade level or ability does not meet the minimum program requirements, every effort will be made to transfer the student to a course that best suits his or her level.

If we cancel a program for any reason, participants will be entitled to a full refund or transfer to another activity. Classes will be cancelled three (3) business days prior to the first class if the class does not meet minimum enrollment. If you prefer, our staff will assist you in finding another activity that meets your needs.
